I am excited to share my journey and interest in helping adults, children, and families. It all began working as a waterfront director for kids from a group home in Detroit and during my six wonderful years as a preschool teacher in Chicago, which revealed my long-time passion for early childhood development. These experiences inspired me to become a licensed psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with additional training in Child and Adolescent Psychology.
I am, to say the least, very devoted to the improvement of adolescents’ lives and the LGBTIA+ community, and their families, especially those facing the pressures from growing up in a non-affirming religious environment. It is my goal to help parents and their children from the beginning through the adolescent years and into young adulthood.
In my free time, I enjoy walking to various downtown Grand Rapids restaurants and theaters. I like to spend many of my Sundays with my parents, siblings, and their children at a nearby lake we grew up enjoying.
My wonderful Springer Spaniel, Rory, brings so much joy to my life. Two of the things that I will always cherish are studying in Dublin and the beautiful landscapes of Ireland and going on a meaningful pilgrimage in Israel.
I am excited to be in the final stages of writing a book that is a series of vignettes, poems, and interviews that started out being a book about growing up gay and Christian and has grown from that to a book that can help others with identity reconciliation and self-discovery.
